Mermaid Splash Introduction

We offer Mermaid Splash for those ages 6 and up. In this 90-minute course, you will put on your mermaid tail and learn how to safely swim in the pool! This is a fin-tastic interactive and fun class for everyone! New mer-people must be at least 18 years of age or 6 years old with legal guardian consent, liability waiver and be able to:

Swim 15 yards without assistance
Float comfortably on their back
Float comfortably on their front while being able to hold their breath for 15 seconds
Tread water for 1 minute

You will need to have basic mermaid equipment (rigid monofin, fabric tail, mask, snorkel, sun/exposure protection) to bring to class.

Aquatic Mermaid Course

Mermaids sea-king more in-depth training may swim up to the Aquatic Mermaid Course! This 4-hour in-water course teaches intermediate-level mermaid skills, so that you can safely mermaid in a pool or other confined water space! To be eligible to take this course, mer-people must have completed the Splash Mermaid course, be 18 years of age or at least 8 years old with legal guardian consent, liability waiver and be able to:

Swim 200 yards without assistance
Float comfortably on their back
Float comfortably on their front, while being able to hold their breath for 15 seconds
Tread water for 10 minutes
Swim for 9 feet underwater in one breath

You will need to have basic mermaid equipment (rigid monofin, fabric tail, mask, snorkel, sun/exposure protection) to bring to class.

For those ready to dive deeper into the ultimate mermaid adventure, our Reef Mermaid Course is for you. This is a 4-hour in-water course that teaches you how to swim like a wild mermaid in our natural world, of the open ocean or springs! Classes will be held at Blue Heron Bridge or Cato’s Bridge. As a Reef Mermaid, you will learn to swim safely in the open water with your mermaid tail and explore the beautiful underwater world! To participate in this course, you must be at least 18 years of age or a minimum of 10 years old with legal guardian consent, complete the liability waiver, have completed the Aquatic Mermaid Course and be able to:

Swim 200 yards without assistance
Float comfortably on their back
Float comfortably on their front, while being able to hold their breath for 15 seconds
Tread water for 10 minutes

Shoreline Mermaid Modeling Beginner Course

This Mermaid Course requires no previous training. We will teach you how to put on a mermaid tail and accessories and model on land. We can assist with mermaid make-up and you will have so much fun, that you will then be ready to make a Splash!

Students must be of the minimum required age and bring the following equipment:

Minimum age 18, or 6 with parental consent and liability waiver
Basic mermaid equipment (rigid monofin, fabric tail, and sun/exposure protection)

Additional mermaid equipment (crown and makeup)

Waves Mermaid Modeling Advanced Course

The Waves Mermaid Modeling Advanced Course teaches mer-people how to pose for the perfect underwater picture. You must be at least 18 years of age or 10 with legal guardian consent and be able to

Swim 200 yards unassisted
Float comfortably on your back
Float comfortably on their front while being able to hold their breath for 15 seconds
Tread water for 10 minutes
Have completed the Aquatic Mermaid certification for pool photography and Reef Mermaid certification for open water photographs

You will need to have basic mermaid equipment (rigid monofin, fabric tail, mask, snorkel, sun/exposure protection) to bring to class. You may also want to bring your own mermaid crown and other accessories.

The Fine Print The Fine Print All students are responsible for completing either printed course materials or an eLearning curriculum. Stuart Scuba’s training includes the cost of any necessary dives to complete the course in our recreational classes. Those that purchase traditional course materials will be required to attend a 4hr classroom review prior to pool instruction. Those that purchased eLearning course materials will be required to attend a 2.5hr classroom review prior to pool instruction. Students will need to provide their own mask, fins, boots and snorkel, which our staff can gladly help you choose for the best comfort and fit for you. Stuart Scuba and its Professional Scuba Instructors want your Scuba diving experience to be extraordinary. In an effort to be prepared, please review the Student Registration and Medical Statement relevant to your specific certifying agency (NAUI, SDI, TDI or PADI). Answering YES to any question on the medical statement doesn’t automatically disqualify you from diving. It only means that you have a preexisting condition which your instructor needs to be aware of that could interfere with your safety while SCUBA diving. If thought necessary, your Physician may need to sign the Physicians release portion of the medical statement prior to any in water instruction.
